Because another medical company already has rights to the name Koala, the product is being branded under the name Joey, which is a Australian nickname for a baby marsupial and slang for any young animal or child.

The added attention given to the product design is carried into the logo. The shape of the actual device is used in place of an "o" to help reinforce the design of the clamp.
