The proprietor of Papouli's Greek Grill comes from a long line of Greek restaurant owners. That family tradition was the perfect thing to play up in the name and the logo in an effort to make this chain of restaurants seem more personable.

The word Papouli is greek for "Grandfather", and the image selected for the logo was inspired by a photograph of the owner's own "Papouli", who spent many an hour sitting backward on his chair, socializing in the family restaurant.

The hand-lettered type mimics traditional Greek letter forms and screams "Greek" even from a distance.
