Solid Coat Construction is a general contracting company. They were looking for a monogram-like logo using the letters "SCS".

To play up the "solid coat" portion of the name, we wanted to create a mark that would make a visual reference to chainmail. The letters lend themselves very well to the symmetry necessary to create a chainmail effect.

Emphasis was placed on the words "solid coat" rather than "construction" for the sake of memorability in the marketplace.

In the color version of the logo, both the lettermark and the words were placed inside strong blocks of color. The mark is very sturdy with a bright blue background on the left hand side and a navy background on the right.
